The Rose of Sharon Foundation (RoSF) is an NGO focused on poverty alleviation of widows and orphans. We design and execute programmes that give financial independence and educational opportunities to these marginalized groups. Since inception, RoSF has empowered over 950 widows, awarded scholarships to 1,366 widows’ children and 86 orphans.

International Widows’ Day (June 23rd) is a global day set aside by United Nations (UN) to address the social, economic, cultural and political issues that affect widows. As UN calls for urgent action from world leaders to help widows succeed, RoSF is positioned to join others that are leading NGOs across the globe to make this happen in our society. RoSF uses this annual event to publicize our campaigns for widows’ human rights, their economic stability, social inclusion and political participation.

This year’s event will be a double celebration as the Foundation will also be marking its 10th year anniversary.

The Grand Matron of The Rose of Sharon Foundation and Chief Hostess of the event, Her Excellency, Mrs Bolanle Ambode, First Lady of Lagos State, will deliver the Key Note Address.
